"to be perfectly honest, i'm not that picky of a guy when it comes to girls...oh wait, you want to know about me? sorry. um, i'm hunter jackson carrigan, but i shorten it to jack about ninety percent of the time, makes it easier, and sometimes shorten hunter to something else if you're creative enough. i'm 24 and i'm a bartender while i'm also finishing up my final year of college to head into the engineering field. i was born december 19th, so needless to say most of the time i just combine my birthday with christmas, it makes it easier on everyone around me. especially as that i moved around a lot - i was an army rat with my parents, my dad actually, so therefore i just go with the flow a lot. i do like my bartending job, i get to hear about everyone's lives, especially the other gifted in this city as well. oh yeah, i'm a rogue, or whatever you call those of us not with division or the plague. the plague could be interesting, but i doubt i'll join, doesn't...seem i suppose like my kind of gig. even though i am gifted, i'm not all one for my abilities. the one that i first discovered was my invulnerability which could border on immortality in a sense due to me never getting sick, but basically, if i were to get hit by a car, i of course would fly onto the car, but when the glass broke or whatever, my skin would be just fine. imagine superman but not being able to fly, but also with enhanced strength. so it comes in pretty handy if i don't want to get shot or stabbed, you know? it'll just break the knife and stop the bullet. my second one is the ability i believe called summoning and basically, there's "another world" from where i can...so to speak, summon things from weapons from the other world, to "familiars" or beings. it comes in handy a lot, especially when the beings actually listen to me. "
DON'T BE SIZIN' ME UP
" let me tell you something real quick, i've been told i'm handsome, but to be honest, i think i'm just...average-looking. i don't really worry too much about my looks, seeing as that all i need to do is shave once in awhile, and then make sure my hair looks decent and isn't greasy. i am tall though, i'm about 6'3" and i honestly have no idea what i wear anymore, i would estimate around 200 pounds, but who knows, i run and work out a lot, so fortunately i don't see anything...well, i see more muscle than anything. oh yeah, like i mentioned i got my blonde hair from my dad actually, while i got my blue eyes from my mom, or so i've been told, i'm not too worried about genetics, just the fact that i loved my parents, still do, just that i'm on my own now. i have a bit of a habit of running my hand through my hair whether it's spiked up or just slid my hand through it with gel, so don't get too worried if you see me do that during the day. jeans are my kind of clothing though. jeans and a shirt with probably a jacket, except now, when it's summer so usually shorts is the best way to go. i dress up and down, just depending on what i can expect for the day ahead, you know? "
TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT
" i don't care what you think about me, does that help describe me a bit better? i like people, don't get me wrong, but i only care enough about what others think of me to the point where if i do end up falling on my ass in public, i'll get embarrassed, but not so to the point where i'll blush and scramble up and run away. no, that's not me. i like to face my challenges, which probably goes with the fact that i can't get hurt by anything besides probably emotional or mental attacks, but physically, thankfully nothing. even i can't get the chicken pox which is nice, or swine flu or anything of the sort. if you haven't noticed already, i can also be sarcastic quite a bit, though i don't like to over do it, takes away the charm of it when i actually use it.
let's see....how would i describe myself, you asked? proud. i'm proud of myself, how i've been raised and where i am in life. i work for a living and i don't mind it, i like where i am, i have an awesome job, i'm not drugged or being tortured by division being turned into a weapon, and not with the plague. besides i serve plenty of humans and gifted alike at the bar, so i like to keep my customers if you know what i mean. i am open-minded, but i do have my own beliefs about things around here, but i'm not one of those types that says oh, i support the gays and i support the healthcare reforms and all that jazz. no. i like to get to the truth and show it, and i like to go with the options that i know will improve this country when it comes to politics. but those are never fun to talk about, even if you are a politician.
oh good lord, i will say this, and i will not say it again, all right? i'll admit, i'm a romantic. seriously! haha. i like the ladies, and if i see one who first i either recognize, know or just think is pretty, i'll approach her - why not? i don't mind meeting people, i am a people person, and i can't be socially inept if i'm a bartender after all, right? but yeah, back to the ladies, i am a romantic, and i'm all for the whole soul-mate stuff, though i doubt it will happen to me, after all there are over 6 billion people in the world, and belmont bay is only one city out of the millions in the world. but yes, i do spoil the girls i'm with, flowers, little date trips, and trust me, being raised with my mom and dad, i respect them, and i like to say i'm not picky, all i know is that i ask for respect in return, and that she returns my feelings, that too much to ask for? i hope not.
ahem....anyway! let's see...umm...besides being loyal, i'm a laid-back guy and i'm good exploring or being out and about all day, or i'm good just playing video games most of the day, as long as i got someone to hang out with if i do the video game part, i'm all set to go. when/if i do that, i always take a break though to cook myself something. i've been a cook fan since i was young, and i don't mind cooking simple things, and dishes for dinner, but i'm definitely not the type to slave over a dish for hours. just something nice and that's it. i'm certainly not a perfectionist, but i am definitely a person who likes to keep things clean and orderly - i blame my job."
BLOOD IS THICKER THAN WATER
" as i mentioned before, my dad was in the army, and since we moved around a lot, i was a bit of an army rat growing up most of my life. my dad, jackson carrigan adored the army and had since he was a little kid, when he and my mom, mary angela married when they were both just out of college, they didn't know they'd be moving as much as they really were, especially with a pair of kids in tow. you heard me right, kids. i have a younger brother named tyler and i adore the little brat he used to be. we grew up together, having been both born in fort worth texas. there i was raised till i was about four and tyler came along, then we shortly moved to another base in kansas for a few years. needless to say, my childhood wasn't all that fun. i hated moving, every time i would always make really good friends - mostly for life too - but then we would need to move again due to my dad's high(er) position in the army. my mom, mary doted on us, she didn't work, but would sometimes pick up a part-time job when tyler and i got older and could be trusted to be on the base or at our apartment alone for awhile. i liked being on my own, and especially raising tyler pretty much, keeping an eye on my younger brother all through elementary school. if someone picked up him, they had me to answer to. when i was younger, i didn't care about authority besides my mom and dad, the principal would call my dad and that usually set me straight till someone got after my little brother again.
the reason why, not only because i love my little brother, but because he is also pretty deaf before he got his hearing aids. i taught him sign language, as i did also teach my parents when he was younger, allowing him to communicate besides just sitting there and letting life go by. so i technically know four languages, english, sign language as well as spanish and conversational french. hey, i studied in college, might as well, right? anyway, he finally got hearing aids when he was in fourth grade, ones that worked very well with him and after that, people tended to ease up off him and just...leave him alone. good. so tyler and i were a tight-knit pair, supporting each other since we always moved about one every year or so after i turned 12. that's though, when things started to get odd, especially when my dad took my around the base we were at in texas one day, that's when i discovered my ability to not get hurt by stabbing or anything. i hadn't ever gotten sick, but when my dad took me to show me some of the awesome vehicles, i had to try it. getting up in the driver's seat, the calibration was horribly off, and neither of us knowing about it, the air bag went off, smashing my nose. it hurt. but i didn't bleed like i was expected to.
my dad quickly got my nose checked and upon not seeing it broken, we both just assumed it to be by blind luck my nose didn't break. course when i got into football, while all the other guys got broken noses and sprained ankles and such - didn't need to worry about it. i never got a broken bone in my entire life, and no bruises that much either. i didn't concern myself with it, though tyler found it fascinating for some reason. course i started driving when i was 16, and mary sat me down with my dad one night, after tyler had gone to bed. that's when they admitted to me they were both gifted, and i would most likely be one too. shocked, i pulled it off as a joke, saying they were just doing this because i had gotten my license and all that jazz. only when i noticed their seriousness, did i actually realize that hey...it was true. that's when i accidentally tripped over our dog, winnie at the time (a rescue) and went head first into the corner of the table. surprisingly, i didn't lose consciousness. my parents looked me over and were shocked to see i was unscathed. i was just fine, the table had a slight dent from like anything hitting it at that force, but i had no blood, nothing. surprised, i wanted to test it. i had my brother attempt to poke me with a pair of scissors the next day when we were home alone. nothing. i then tried to stab myself with them. they just rested on my skin, not piercing it.
needless to say that freaked my brother out a bit. bordering 17 myself, he turned 13 and that's when his own power started to show itself. he could manipulate himself and make duplicates of himself. ones that all thought like the original, and could speak telepathically with each other. so one tyler went to school i noticed sometimes, and the main one stayed home, especially if he wasn't feeling good or something. i discovered my summoning when i moved here to belmont bay when i was 18 and entering the local university here. after having just moved, i went to visit my parents out in lake havasu, arizona. i still don't remember exactly how it happened, but basically i was in my parents' house near the base when suddenly, a jolt bolted through my body and soon, out of nowhere came this easily 6-foot tall dog with massive fangs like a sabertooth poking out of his jaws. the red-eyed beast looked at me, his dark shaggy fur evident in the sunshine, and based on his shadow, i knew he had to be real. he demanded to know why i brought him here - out loud mind you, all the beings have their own way of communicating, some through telepathy with me and only me, others out loud and therefore others can hear them. horrified, i ran, but he happily chased me like a dog would, pinning me of course when he caught me. the dog eyed me curiously, before he spoke, realizing what i was, and i noticed just how, over the years, how intelligent these beings actually were. some harbored the basic animal intelligence of their earth counter-parts, but others were above human intelligence sometimes, sometimes a bit dangerous too.
i learned over time how to use my summoning to my advantage, like a "portal" to the other world. i could access weapons, but most of all spirits, or familiars as i call them. they come here, and they can make themselves invisible to others or visible, just depending on their own wish or my own, and can speak in their own way, by vocalizing themselves like a person, or telepathy, but only with me. get it? anyway, i rarely summon anything too...exotic looking unless i want to get someone's attention or i need help. most of the time i have what i just simply call them a nine-tailed fox, where their tails can combine to look like one, and their features become like a dog's, therefore i'm able to have a familiar with me a lot out in public as long as they behave themselves, which is why the ones i know will behave i bring here a lot. the other ones, since i can only control them to an extent, because they do have free will, i will only bring here in emergencies.
